Community Update: 05-15-2026

Good afternoon,

I hope this message finds you well.  With each passing week, it seems the time is going more quickly as we approach the end of the 25-26 school year.  Of course, this is also the time of year when our focus shifts towards culminating events, specifically graduation, and additional events of recognition and celebration.

One question we often ask ourselves as educators is “how do we know the degree to which our students are attaining our NCS mission statement?”  Over the past few weeks, while scrolling through the Naples CSD Facebook page, I had the opportunity to see many “senior salute” posts, each recognizing a graduating senior and sharing what their future plans might be.  As I viewed these posts, I was reminded just how impressive our NCS graduates are and how well prepared they are to embark upon their chosen pursuits.  The pathways our students are choosing to follow are diverse, rigorous, and relevant.  Further, the degree to which our NCS graduates are well-rounded, through engagement in extra-curricular activities, is also impressive.  Thanks to our NCS families for their efforts and willingness to allow our district to assist these students in this process towards fulfilling our mission!  You can view many of these senior salutes via the link below:

On a related note, last week we celebrated staff appreciation week.  The success of our district is rooted in the diverse strengths of all of our employees.  Whether it be our teaching staff, instructional support staff, facilities/maintenance staff, food service staff, clerical staff, nurses, or administrators, each and everyone one of our employees has an impact when it comes to helping our students become the best version of themselves.  Many thanks are extended to our staff, and I appreciate the kind gestures of appreciation shared by students, PTP, student council, and others as we acknowledged their efforts!

While wet weather has hampered spring sports games and matches continue and soon sectional competition will be upon us.  Our HS students enjoyed a wonderful prom at Bristol Mountain earlier this month; thanks to all of those that make this experience such a positive one for our students.  NYS 3-8 ELA and Math testing is now completed along with most AP exams, with regents assessments forthcoming in June.  Our students look forward to the senior trip and NES field days, among other traditions that mark the end of the school year, of course culminating with graduation on Saturday, June 20th at 11:00 AM in the HS Auditorium.

While this is an exciting time of the year, it is also important for our students to remain focused, balancing the enjoyable activities with the need to finish strong academically and behaviorally.  I am confident our students will be up to this challenge.  Adhering to routines, consistency, and expectations are key in this work and I appreciate the support our families provide.
As we look to the weeks ahead, a few important dates:
