Community Update: 04-23-2026
A message from the superintendent, Kevin Swartz-
I hope this message finds you well. As with each school year, the time seems to pass even more quickly as we move into the spring season. It is hard to believe that there are only about 8 weeks of school remaining. I wanted to share some exciting news regarding the status of the NCS 7-12 Assistant Principal search which began in late February:
NCS is pleased to announce that last evening, the NCS Board of Education appointed Jonathan Zacharias as the 7-12 Assistant Principal. Jonathan will begin in his new role July 1st. Jonathan has been an educator for over a decade and has most recently served as an Assistant Principal in the Penn Yan Central School District. Upon his appointment yesterday, Jonathan shared the following message:
Dear Naples School Community,
I am incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Naples Central School District as the Secondary Assistant Principal. From my earliest conversations, it was clear that Naples is a place where relationships matter, students are supported and challenged, and there is a strong sense of pride in the school and community. I feel fortunate to be joining in that work alongside
students, families, and staff.
Professionally, my path in education has taken me through a variety of roles, from the classroom to building-level leadership. Across each experience, one belief has remained constant: strong relationships and strong systems create the conditions for students to feel successful, engaged, and prepared for what comes next. I care deeply about creating environments where students are supported, challenged, and known, and where staff feel valued and connected in their work. These core beliefs guide my work to ensure students are supported and prepared for their chosen path after high school.
Having grown up in Canandaigua, I’ve heard for years about the strength of the Naples community—how connected it is, how much people care about their school, and the pride that exists here. That reputation has always stood out, and I’m excited to now be a part of it and to learn more about what makes Naples such a special place. I believe strong partnerships between school and families are essential and play a critical role in supporting students.
As I begin this role this summer, I look forward to beginning to listen, build relationships, and learn from the students, staff, and families who make Naples such a special place. I’m looking forward to being present in classrooms, at events, and throughout the community as I get to know everyone. I am truly honored to join this community and look forward to working together in support of our students.
All the best,
Jonathan Zacharias
