Summer Safety

On Wednesday, June 13th, Officer Jaus spent some time with our elementary students to talk about summer safety! He reviewed important information about riding bikes and water safety. He also talked about making good choices with electronics and using the internet. All of the students greatly enjoyed talking about how to be safe this summer! Here are some important tips from Officer Jaus:
Bike Safety:
  • Have a properly fitted helmet.
  • Make sure your bike is in good working order.
  • Follow traffic signs and rules for biking on the road.
  • Always walk your bike when you cross the road.
Water Safety:
  • Wear a properly fitted lifejacket when on the water.
  • Always have an adult present when you swim.
  • Keep your hands and feet inside the boat when boating.
Internet Safety:
  • Never give out personal information.
  • Tell an adult if anyone asks you for personal information.
  • Things that you put on the internet do not go away when you delete them.
Other Tips:
  • Keep your distance from lawnmowers.
  • Wear sunscreen to protect your skin.
  • Always follow the directions of your parent or a trusted adult.
