New Faces in Naples!

Dear Naples School Community:

There is a saying that "the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers." For generations, Naples has been blessed with a world-class faculty and staff, and that tradition continues as we welcome a new group of dynamic educators to NCS.

As we prepare for the start of the 2017-2018 school year, I wanted to introduce many of the new faces you will see in our buildings by passing along information through our website and social media accounts. We are thrilled that Ms. Lindsey Alongi will be joining our school family, and I would invite you to help us welcome her to Naples this fall.

Hope to see you soon.

Matt Frahm, Superintendent

Name: Ms. Lindsey Alongi

Subject Area: High School French Teacher

Why did you decide to apply/accept the job in the Naples Central School District?

Both personally and professionally, I want to be a part of a small town community that values education. Naples has a wonderful reputation for its excellence in education and gives off the family-community feel that I value. My family and I hope to move to the Naples area and be a part of this wonderful area!

What do you like the most about your job?

Teaching French, I of course strive to share my passion for the language, culture, and travel, but more so,  I love that every year and every day is something a little bit different, from the students to the lessons to the opportunities offered to all of us. Student growth and success both personally and academically is what inspires me to always do my best and I love that teaching allows me to be creative and flexible while continuously learning and growing as an educator.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have a young family, so I enjoy spending time with them—we enjoy being outdoors, hiking, camping, kayaking, and began beekeeping this Spring!  Personally I love to garden, cook, and read, and I am always looking for something new try--places to explore, recipes to experiment with, books to read, games to play, or new plants to grow!

What types of books/magazines would we see on your bookshelf?

You would see everything from cookbooks, travel, home/gardening, to novels of dramatic, romance, and sci-fi fiction.

What is your favorite quote?
Many years ago I searched for quotes to hang in my classroom and the one that really fits me as a teacher and person is by the author Henry Boyle that reads " The most important trip you may take in life is meeting people half way"

What is your favorite food?

Pizza is my “go to” food and I never seem to get sick of it and I love sweets with chocolate and peanut butter in them!

Tell us a little about your family.

I have spent 17 years, 9 married, to my wonderful husband Nick, we have a son, Harlon who will be 2 on September 8 and are expecting a little girl around Thanksgiving. Our extended family mostly lives in the Rochester/Finger Lakes region and we enjoy getting to spend time with them as much as possible.

If you were to leave a legacy here in Naples-what would it be?

Inspiring students to take risks and to explore their world—I would love to establish travel opportunities for students and hope offer trips to Quebec and Europe in the future!
