Community Presentation on Stakeholder Interviews

Dear Members of the Naples School Community:

Over Holiday Break, I had the chance to catch up on a bit of reading. One of the books I picked up off my coffee table was Thomas Friedman’s Thank You for Being Late. Exploring how rapid accelerations in technology, globalization, and climate change have been impacting our lives, Friedman comments on what the world was like ten years ago when he writes:

“Facebook didn’t even exist yet, Twitter was still a sound, the cloud was still in the sky, 4G was a parking space, ‘applications’ were what you sent to college, LinkedIn was barely known and most people thought it was a prison, Big Data was a good name for a rap star, and Skype, for most people, was a typographical error. All of those technologies blossomed after I wrote The World Is Flat—most of them around 2007.”

While the world has changed profoundly in the past decade, we have no reason to believe the pace of change will slow over the next ten years. With this in mind, the Naples Central School District has spent hours over the past few months interviewing more than 50 stakeholders about the future of education at NCS. Talking with a variety of students, staff members, and parents, the District has compiled valuable information to be used in setting priorities and a vision for education in our community. If you are interested in learning more about the stakeholder interviews and sharing your thoughts about the future of NCS, we invite you to join us for the following conversation:
