COVID-19 Testing at NCS

COVID-19 Testing for Students who are Exhibiting Symptoms

We are pleased to have received our rapid testing equipment and Mrs. Sara Weigert has been assigned to NCS as a nurse from the Ontario County Health Department.  Beginning on Monday October 18, 2021 students who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will be able to obtain a free 15-minute rapid test right here at NCS.

  • Sponsored by a grant received by the Ontario County Department of Health at no cost to the parent or the school
  • For students exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms
  • Reduces the number of days it takes for students to have to stay home to be tested and receive test results before returning to school
  • Parent permission is required
  • Tests can be administered in the school parking lot
  • Gentle nose swab that can be self-administered by older children, by a parent, or by the nurse
  • If the result is NEGATIVE, the nurse and family can work together to determine other causes for symptoms and if a student should stay home or attend school
  • If the result is POSITIVE, the nurse will inform parents and COVID-19 protocols will begin

If your child has one or more COVID-19 symptoms (see list below) please do not send them to school. Please contact Mrs. VandeSande in the elementary school (374-7957) kvandesande@naplescsd.org or Mrs. Finnan in the high school (374-7914) lfinnan2@naplescsd.org.  Mrs. VandeSande or Mrs. Finnan will coordinate your option for rapid testing here at school or share other options with you.
