Dr. Black Appointed Interim Superintendent

Dear Naples School Community,

As many of you know, Dr. Frahm recently submitted his letter of resignation in order to take over as the Superintendent of the Clarence Central School District, effective August 1, 2021. To search for his replacement, the Naples Board of Education will be enlisting the assistance of an outside organization to help guide the process. The Board is committed to a thorough and transparent selection process.

To help ensure a smooth transition, the Board is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeffrey Black has been appointed to serve as the Interim NCS Superintendent and Business Administrator. Dr. Black retired in December of 2019 after more than 30 years in public education—14 of which were spent in the role of Superintendent and Business Official in the Prattsburgh Central School District. Furthermore, Naples has been home to Dr. Black and his family since 1994, and he is the proud father of two Big Green graduates and the spouse of a retired NCS teacher. Dr. Black’s appointment will begin on August 1, 2021, and it is anticipated that he will fill the role through the end of December.

Because Dr. Black has been serving as the Interim NCS Business Official since January of 2020, he is familiar with the outstanding people, programs, and systems that are currently in place in Naples. As he assumes his new position, however, the Board has also offered what is called a “Letter of Intent” to Mr. Chad Hunt. Working as the current Director of Facilities and Transportation, Mr. Hunt will be appointed as the new Director of Business and Operations once he acquires his New York State Education Department certification in mid-December. The move will provide needed support to the NCS District Office, and it will also give Mr. Hunt a unique opportunity to continue working alongside Dr. Black through this transitional period.

In the months ahead, the Board will be focused on finding a superintendent who fits the school culture at NCS, and who can help the District grow as a cornerstone of the community. Search updates will be shared periodically, and we look forward to partnering with community stakeholders on this important endeavor.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jacob Hall
NCS Board of Education President
