Scheduling Changes

Dear NCS Parents:

As we move further into the school year, I wanted to let you know about two different scheduling changes:

Change #1: Wednesday, December 9, will now be an asynchronous learning day for all students in grades UPK-12. This means that students will learn from home, and that teachers will make instructional content available on either Seesaw, Schoology, or Google Classroom. Although students will have to check in using a classroom (Elementary School) or building (High School) Zoom link in the morning for attendance, the rest of the day they will be able to learn independently at their own pace.

While we know it can be difficult to replace the magic that happens in classrooms, the asynchronous learning day will give us an important opportunity to focus on the planning and professional development needed for remote or hybrid instruction. Please know how much we appreciate your flexibility when it comes to scheduling modifications, and that we will try to limit changes in the weeks and months ahead.

Change #2: For years, High School students have been able to stay after with teachers for extra help during 9th periods on Tuesday-Friday. However, on Mondays, teachers have used the 9th period time block for meetings and professional development.

However, starting the week after Thanksgiving Break (November 30-December 4), we will be changing our schedule so that teachers will meet on Wednesdays during 9th period. This means that High School students will be able to stay after for extra help on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and that after school support will be more equitable for our Green Team learners.

As always, please do not hesitate to call or email (585-374-7901; mfrahm@naplescsd.org) with any questions or concerns.

Hoping this finds you well—have a great rest of the week.

Matt
