April 6 Update

Dear NCS Parents and Guardians:

I hope this finds you well, and that you are outside enjoying the spring sunshine this evening. In addition, I wanted to take a minute to highlight a couple important announcements that came out earlier today.

School Closure

Due to continued concerns related to COVID-19, Governor Cuomo announced that schools in New York would remain closed until April 29. The Governor also cautioned about underestimating the virus, and encouraged individuals to continue honoring social distancing guidelines in order to minimize possible exposure.

Regents Exams

Because of the closure, Chancellor Rosa announced that June Regents Examinations would also be cancelled. Furthermore, she indicated that additional guidance would be released tomorrow, and we will make sure to communicate the important information as soon as we know more.

Census 2020

Although unrelated to COVID-19, I also wanted to encourage everyone to complete the 2020 Census. In addition to determining how New York State will be represented in Congress, it also helps to shape federal funding for our community related to housing, health care, education, transportation, employment, and public policy.
Please give our best to your sons and daughters, and let them know we miss them tremendously at NCS.

Warmly,

Matt Frahm, Superintendent
