Information on the Flu

NCS Parents:

Because the health and safety of students is always our first priority, I wanted to take a minute to pass along information related to seasonal influenza (flu). The flu is an infection of the nose, throat, and lungs, and symptoms typically include a fever, a cough and/or sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, headaches and/or body aches, chills, fatigue, etc. Because the flu can be spread from one person to another, we suggest that children as well as their parents receive a vaccination each year. In addition, as a preventative measure we also recommend that students and staff follow the “3 C’s”:
  1. Cover your nose and sneeze with the inside of your elbow and not your hands
  2. Cleanse your hands frequently
  3. Contain your germs by staying home when you are sick
If you would like to know more about the flu, I would encourage you to review the materials linked below from the NYS Department of Health as well as from the Center for Disease Control. Our school nurses stand willing to answer any questions you might have regarding the flu, and I would also be happy to connect you directly with our school physician for additional information.

Thank you as always for your support, and please do not hesitate to call (585-374-7901) or email (mfrahm@naplescsd.org) if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Matt Frahm, Superintendent
