New Faces in Naples!

Dear Naples School Community:

There is a saying that "the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers." For generations, Naples has been blessed with a world-class faculty and staff, and that tradition continues as we welcome a new group of dynamic educators to NCS.

As we prepare for the start of the 2017-2018 school year, I wanted to introduce many of the new faces you will see in our buildings by passing along information through our website and social media accounts. We are thrilled that Ms. Lauren Eisinger will be joining our school family, and I would invite you to help us welcome her to Naples this fall.

Hope to see you soon.

Matt Frahm, Superintendent

Name: Ms. Lauren Eisinger

Subject Area: 5th Grade Special Education

Why did you decide to apply/accept the job in the Naples Central School District?

Last fall, I completed my student teaching at Naples Elementary School in Mrs. Becker’s third grade classroom. Even though I was only a student teacher, the Naples staff, students, and community members were so welcoming. I grew tremendously as a teacher through collaborating with different teachers in the building. After student teaching, the decision to apply for a job at Naples was a no-brainer, and I feel incredibly lucky to be starting my teaching career in a school district that puts its students first.

What do you like the most about your job?

I love seeing my students grow and accomplish new things every day. I decided to become a teacher because I wanted to understand how to unlock students’ brains to help them learn. For me, nothing is more rewarding than helping a student reach their “ah-ha!” moment.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love to stay active. I enjoy running and exercising, as well as discovering new places to hike. I spend a lot of time with my family and friends and travel to new places. Wherever I go, I always bring a good book with me to read.

What types of books/magazines would we see on your bookshelf?

I love reading all types of books, from poetry to biographies to science fiction. I also read newly-released children’s and YA books to stay up-to-date on books that I can use in my classroom or recommend to my students. Currently, I am reading Wonder, which I am excited to share with my fifth graders, and the Maze Runner series.

What is your favorite quote?

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”
Frances Hodgson BurnettThe Secret Garden

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is spaghetti with my mom’s recipes for homemade meatballs and sauce.

Tell us a little about your family.

I am from Sauquoit, New York, which is a small, rural town in the Utica area. My mom is a speech pathologist at a local preschool and my dad works for an insurance company. My brother is a physics teacher, and my twin sister recently relocated to Albany where she works in marketing. I also have an Australian Shepherd named Annie.

If you were to leave a legacy here in Naples-what would it be?

I would hope to leave a legacy as a teacher who puts my students first and encourages them to explore their world. I hope to demonstrate empathy and open-mindedness in my teaching that will inspire my students to carry these values forward in their own lives.

Any additional information you would like to share:

I am thrilled to be working in Naples again, and I look forward to meeting more people and getting involved in our Naples community.
