New Faces in Naples!

Dear Naples School Community:

There is a saying that "the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers." For generations, Naples has been blessed with a world-class faculty and staff, and that tradition continues as we welcome a new group of dynamic educators to NCS.

As we prepare for the start of the 2017-2018 school year, I wanted to introduce many of the new faces you will see in our buildings by passing along information through our website and social media accounts. We are thrilled that Mrs. Nicole Green will be joining our school family, and I would invite you to help us welcome her to Naples this fall.

Hope to see you soon.

Matt Frahm, Superintendent

Name: Mrs. Nicole Green

Subject Area: High School English

Why did you decide to apply/accept the job in the Naples Central School District?

I have lived in Naples for the past 20 years and am excited to be teaching in the community I call my home.

What do you like the most about your job?

It is an honor and privilege to work with children as they grow up. This has always been my favorite part of teaching - interacting with and guiding children as they discover how to use their gifts to better our world.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my husband and boys. We are sports fans and are always up for watching or attending a good game. My favorite teams are the NY Football Giants, the Yankees, and the Boston Celtics! This summer we visited Boston and got a tour of the TD Garden. So fun!

What types of books/magazines would we see on your bookshelf?

I LOVE my Kindle and have all kinds of books in my library. I frequently read young adult literature. My most recent favorite is the Mortal Instrument series, by Cassandra  Clare. Some other titles I have read are The Chemist, by Stephanie Meyer, A Man Called Ove, by Fredrik Backman, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon, and The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom.

What is your favorite quote?

One of my favorite quotes  from Helen Keller - "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."

What is your favorite food?

I have to choose just one? A couple of my favorite foods are my mother's lasagna and all kinds of pizza!

Tell us a little about your family.

My husband, Matthew, and I live a few miles outside the village of Naples with our two sons, Nicholas and Benjamin.  We have two dogs, Mocha and Baxter, and one cat, Rascal. We spend a lot of time at school activities since both boys are involved in sports and band. When we aren't busy at school, we enjoy downtime at home and our cabin. Spending time outdoors on our land is one of our favorite things to do.

If you were to leave a legacy here in Naples-what would it be?

Teaching is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding, professions. If I can make a difference in my students' lives, no matter how big or small, then I have done what I set out to do. Because of significant teachers in my life, I owe a substantial amount to future generations. I look forward to serving this community and its children.
