NCS to Appoint New High School Principal

Dear NCS Parents and Guardians:

As you know, research suggests that when it comes to school related factors influencing student achievement, the role of the principal is exceeded only by the quality of teachers working directly with students. When Mrs. Bridget Ashton transitioned to her new position as the Superintendent of the Honeoye Central School District, I shared that I had asked Mrs. Nicole Green (NCS English Teacher) to serve as our Interim High School Principal for the remainder of the year.

Since that point, Mrs. Green has finished her certification in educational administration through the University of Rochester, and proven herself to be a skilled and caring school leader. With that in mind, I wanted you to know that I will be recommending that our Board of Education remove the word “Interim” from Mrs. Green’s title, and appoint her to be the next High School Principal in Naples.

When we asked students, parents, and staff about what they were looking for in a High School Principal, they overwhelming listed the following:
  1. Develops positive and professional relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members
  2. Solid judgment based on experience, thoughtfulness, personal integrity, courage, and compassion
  3. Communicates clearly and regularly
  4. Holds a deep appreciation for the importance of providing a safe and caring learning environment for all
  5. Confronts and resolves issues and concerns in a timely manner
Over the past three months, Mrs. Green has far exceeded our expectations in each of the five areas. In addition, she is a resident of the community, and someone who cares deeply for our Naples family. To learn more about Mrs. Green, I would ask that you take a minute to read this press release, or visit the Naples Facebook Page at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 for a “Meet the Principal” conversation.

As always, thank you for your support, and please join me in congratulating Mrs. Green (ngreen2@naplescsd.org) on her new role.

Warmly,

Matt Frahm, Superintendent
